Girl Scouts Take the Cookie-Cutter Approach.
If you’re a fan of Girl Scout cookies, be warned: Your local troop may be cutting back on the ol’ cookie selection this year. Plans are in the works to streamline their product offering, eliminating soft-sellers like Dulce de Leche, Thank U Berry Munch, Lemon Chalet, Tagalongs and many others.
The goal is to get down to only the six top-selling cookies (fortunately, my personal favorite Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos and Trefoils made the cut). It’s all part of the groups efforts to make things simpler for the Girl Scouts and for their customers (who dish-out over $714 million in profits to the Girl Scouts). Plus, bottom-line, the six main cookie flavors make up over 80% of their sales anyway.
So when the doorbell rings, don’t be surprised by that blank stare when you ask for a box of All Abouts or Samoas. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
