Here’s a hullabaloo of hearty news and interesting things that happened this weekend. (To read up on last weekend’s updates, click here.) Eat up, friends and foes:
Lizzie MacGuire got married over the weekend in Santa Barbara. From the few photos I saw that were taken from approximately two miles away, she had a long veil and her hair looked very high on her head. It was dark out too. Oh, what? Her name is Hilary Duff? Nonsense, Lizzie would never have two names. Unless she was living the double life of an ordinary teenager and an extraordinary pop star.
While Duff got married, a federal appeals court put a hold on same-sex marriages in California until it decides whether a ban on such unions is constitutional. The controversial Proposition 8 that bans same-sex marriage in California was passed in November 2008.
Weeds season 6 premieres tonight on Showtime. Nancy Botwin fans, it sounds like this season will be very fast-paced with a lot of exercise involved, if my calculations are correct from the season 5 finale. Murder…Mexico…Margaritas…without the margaritas. What have you gotten yourself into, Nancy? Tune in to see what happens.
Episode 4 of Mad Men included a women’s group that left Allison in tears, the return of a now-jaded Ken Cosgrove, and a girl who may or may not have a crush on Peggy. In exciting news for Trudy, she found out she was pregnant, something we’ve seen the Campbells try for since season 1. When Peggy found out, you could tell she was emotionally affected by this announcement, having giving her and Pete’s love child up for adoption a few years ago (I still don’t understand how someone cannot know they’re pregnant until they’re about to give birth. Extra weight in your stomach doesn’t give it away?)
What fun did your weekend hold? And what was your favorite part? Here’s to a fun-filled week ahead, until the next weekend…
