11 Reasons to Honor Veteran’s Day
Ever wonder why Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11? It’s because Veterans Day’s big brother, Armistice Day, is also celebrated on this date around the world. Armistice Day honors Germany’s signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918 – thus ending World War I. In fact, the fighting officially ended at 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th month.
Which brings us to 11 reasons to honor veterans today: 1. War in Iraq, 2. War in Afghanistan, 3. Vietnam War, 4. Korean War, 5. World War II, 6. World War I, 7. Philippine-American War, 8. Spanish-American War, 9. American Civil War, 10. War of 1812, 11. American Revolutionary War.
Truth be told, if it wasn’t for our soldiers we wouldn’t be here today. At least not living the life we now enjoy. So tip your cap to the troops today, and honor the veterans who fight (and fought) for freedom. You’ll find lots of military-themed gear waiting to salute the soldiers of yesterday and today.
