Canceled Crock Pot Orders

Unfortunately, this week we encountered a problem with leaked promotional codes resulting in canceled custom Crock Pot orders. What follows is an explanation of the situation that resulted in cancelled orders, but first an apology to our customers. Please know we deeply regret the circumstances that led to the cancelation of orders and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

The promotional code in question was distributed strictly to the studio audience of 200 who attended the taping of “The Doctors” show on Thursday, January 17th. This promotional code was intended only for that group of attendees. However, it was posted online by someone other than CafePress, and then spread virally.

As soon as we found out this was happening we turned the code off and began the process of sending out cancellation notices for any orders placed outside of the original group of 200 attendees.

If you did not attend the taping and placed an order with this code your order will be canceled.

If you have questions, please contact Customer Service to determine the status of your order. You can also login to your CafePress account and check the status of your order here.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The day of love has arrived and Cupid has struck yet again! I’m sure many of you have plans this evening. A romantic dinner at your favorite restaurant. Perhaps a “chick flick”. Or maybe the two of you will just stay in for the evening. Before you get started on your special night, check out these fun facts you might not know about Valentine’s Day. Makes for a great conversation starter, particularly if this might be a first date.

  • The origin of Valentine’s Day dates back to the Roman Empire during the reign of Claudius II, where Claudius forbid his troops to marry during war time as he felt single men made better soldiers. Bishop Valentine, later known as Saint Valentine, married the soldiers and their would be brides in secret, and was later imprisoned for his crimes. He was executed on February 14th.
  • During the middle ages, women ate bizarre foods on Valentine’s Day to dream of their future spouses.
  • Casanova, well known as “The World’s Greatest Lover,” ate chocolate to make him virile.
  • Hallmark produced the first Valentine’s Day card in 1913.
  • In the 1800′s physicians would often prescribe chocolate to patients who were pining for loved ones.
  • Americans spend over $3.6 billion on Valentine’s Day.
  • The red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love.
  • Why is Cupid the symbol of Valentine’s Day? He was the son of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty.
  • Every year, over 1 billion cards are sent on Valentine’s Day. Only Christmas is bigger.
  • Over 90% of Valentine’s Day flowers are purchased by men, and 15% of women send themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day.
  • England’s King Henry VIII declared February 14th a holiday in 1537 for the first time.
  • Richard Cadbury produced the first box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day in the late 1800′s.
How many of you knew any of these?  I only knew three of them, so apparently I have a lot to learn about Valentine’s Day. Which would explain a lot… sigh… Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Super Bowl XLVII, 49ers – Ravens

Are you ready for some football? That’s right football fans, Super Bowl XLVII is Sunday and should be one heckuva game! Being that CafePress is a San Francisco Bay Area company, you know who we’re rooting for, but we’ll try to stay as impartial as we can for this blog post.

The San Francisco 49ers are going for their sixth Super Bowl title and would only be the second team to do so. That’s difficult to do in any professional sport and in my humble opinion, Pittsburgh got lucky when they won both numbers 5 and 6. Did you see that Super Bowl against Seattle? Come on!

The Baltimore Ravens are going for their second Super Bowl title, and this game is marked by the impending retirement of inside linebacker Ray Lewis. The Ravens dismantled the New York Giants in Super Bowl 35, 34-7 for their first Super Bowl win 12 years ago.

Both teams are playing very well. The Ravens had a remarkable victory in Denver and shut down New England. The 49ers dominated the Packers and had a great come from behind win against the Falcons. I expect a very physical game between two very physical teams.

The Ravens key to victory is… BAH! Enough of this impartial talk! Let’s go Niners! Let’s stomp those little birdies into the ground! Frank Gore, Colin Kaepernick, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss are gonna take it to that Ravens defense. And the Smith brothers, Aldon and Justin are going to harass Joe Flacco all day long.

Let’s do this 49ers! Let’s get number six! Niner fans, who’s got it better than us? NOBODY!

Happy New Year!

Well folks, we made it! 2013 has arrived! Wasn’t 2012 one huckuva year? Facebook went public, the Olympics were a big hit in London, we landed a new rover on Mars, Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a perfectly good space capsule and made history, Superstorm Sandy ravaged the north east, President Obama was re-elected, and we survived the Mayan apocalypse. So bring it on 2013, we’re ready!

Speaking of the New Year, it’s time to talk about resolutions. Fitness tends to be a big one. People sign up for the gym, take up yoga, or do something completely different like martial arts or rock climbing to get fit or lose weight. But there’s other things people tend to focus on, like:

1.  Spend more time with family and friends
2.  Quit smoking
3.  Read more
4.  Enjoy life more
5.  Quit drinking
6.  Get out of debt
7.  Learn something new
8.  Help others
9.  Get organized
10. Get a new job

So whatever you’re planning for the 2013, go big! Remember, it’s not what you do, but how you do it.

Happy New Year everyone!

Nothing says Christmas like an ugly Christmas sweater

It was Christmas morning, 1983. I was a 10-year-old Star Wars junkie (and now I’m a 39-year-old Star Wars junkie) eagerly anticipating what awesome Star Wars toys were awaiting me under the Christmas tree.

Would I find an Imperial Shuttle? Perhaps the B-Wing Fighter was perched under the tree with its S foils extended. Or maybe the Ewok Village was all set up with my Ewoks, replaying the scene where Luke, Han, and Chewie were going to be barbequed to appease the Gods.

No.

Okay, so yeah, I did get the Imperial Shuttle and the B-Wing fighter (I ended up getting the Ewok Villiage and other items later), but the real disappointment was something else.

Sure, I was used to getting a dress shirt and tie with some slacks and dress socks that would reside in my closet never to be seen again. Or even a new rain jacket and rain boots. I always did like getting a wallet, but I always seemed to get 4-5 wallets every Christmas, which was annoying. Or even the random, bizarre toy was acceptable.  But this was different. This was just… ugly.

I picked it up out of the box and there it was. It might have been the ugliest thing I’d ever seen. It was a big, woolly, burgundy sweater with a giant white reindeer on it. And it had black and burgundy stripes on the sleeves. It was simply hideous, but because it was from my grandmother, I had to wear it for Christmas dinner. Luckily I was able to replay the Battle of Endor all day, but I knew that sweater laid in wait for me.

Guests started to arrive and my mother told me to get dressed. So I did, but I didn’t wear the sweater. She didn’t notice at first, until my grandmother arrived. She asked, “Where is your new sweater? Why aren’t you wearing it? Go put it on.” Ugh.

Of course everyone thought I was so handsome in my new sweater, but I knew how horrible it was. I knew the shame of wearing this sweater. I knew no good could come of it. It was incredibly itchy, hot, and uncomfortable. I hated it and begged to take the sweater off, but my mother said no.

Sweaters still make me twitch to this day…

So in honor of every child of the 80s who was forced to wear an ugly sweater to Christmas dinner, I give you our Ugly Sweater T-Shirt collection. Relive the humor of the moment, head out to an Ugly Christmas Sweater party, or just get one because they’re retro. Seems like the 80s is back anyway, mullets, bad mustaches, and ugly sweaters. It’s a trifecta of horribleness!

Wear this t-shirt with pride and know you can take it off whenever you want to. Your mom can’t tell you what to do anymore…

Don’t you just love this time of year? The chilly mornings and nights, the pouring rain. Grabbing that cup of coffee on your way to work from the local coffee shop. What better way to embrace the season than grabbing a brand new hoodie!

There’s something comforting about wearing a hoodie. Maybe it’s the oversized, warm, soft feeling of wearing one. Or maybe it’s pulling the hood over your head during that light, morning drizzle. Perhaps you like curling up on the couch on a chilly Sunday afternoon to read your favorite book. Whatever it is, wearing your hoodie makes it all just right.

We have all sorts of designs to choose from too. Twilight and Hunger Games hoodies for fans of the movies and books, military hoodies for military mom’s and dad’s, and vintage hoodies for those seeking a bit of nostalgia. Plus our hoodies are made from a cotton polyester fleece blend, so you know they’re extra soft. Choose from either a pullover or zip hoodie, whichever you prefer. Mary Had a Little…Turkey?

What is the link between the nursery rhyme “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and Thanksgiving? An American writer named Sara Josepha Hale. Hale is not only the author of the celebrated nursery rhyme, but also the one to raise a near 30-year campaign to make Thanksgiving a national holiday. She even published recipes for turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and much more, of which eventually became the modern day Thanksgiving essentials. Believe it or not, the Pilgrims did not have turkey nor pumpkin pie on their dinner tables during the first Thanksgiving.

During this time of year, we are encouraged to reflect, give thanks to what we have, and feast! This tradition dates back to 1621, where the Plymouth colonists (more popularly known as Pilgrims) celebrated their first successful harvest with their Wampanoag Indian friends. This 3-day celebration was eventually recognized as the first Thanksgiving. This year, whether you plan to feast like there’s no tomorrow, thumb through stacks of Black Friday ads, catch some football, or simply enjoy the company of your family and loved ones, there’s a t-shirt for that! Take a gander at some of our super fun Thanksgiving t-shirts.
